Belmont – New Music

Chicago-based band Belmont released the track “Water Weight” in late April of 2017, recorded/mixed by Seth Henderson at ABG Studios and produced by Dave Knox of Real Friends. Guitarist Sam Patt says, “This song was new for us because the writing approach was way different. We tried to switch things up a bit while staying true to ourselves, we took a more collaborative approach to this song, and adding Dave Knox’s influence pushed the song to new boundaries for us. The lyrics hold personal meaning too; dealing with the passing of a loved one before you’re personally ready is so difficult because life doesn’t wait for you to be emotionally ready. It makes you take a step back and reevaluate what’s important in your life, who and what you hold dear.”

Lyrics:
Nauseate, I’m spinning circles to reimagine you’re still with me. It doesn’t help much that I’m stuck guilty and afraid. Expecting too much but lacking the guts to say what you needed me to say. I got caught up, you wished me good luck, I’ll see you when I reach my grave. I took for granted all the times you set yourself aside, I threw away a lot of time chasing what I despise. I’m searching for closure in your life. Gravitate, I’m drifting far from our common ground – I can’t relate. I’m feeling hostage in conversation – it’s not the same. Memories replayed can’t replace you six feet underneath. I took for granted all the times you set yourself aside, I threw away a lot of time chasing what I despise. I’m searching for closure in your life, but getting nowhere. I took for granted all the times you set yourself aside, I threw away a lot of time chasing what I despise. I’m searching for closure in your life, I bury everything inside.
