Singer and songwriter Amanda Lyons has a rich history of performing, singing, and writing lyrics. She released music videos in 2015, which is part of the EP Night Vision. The following is what she had to say:

“I was born Amanda Maiorano, but I use Amanda Lyons as my stage name, my mother’s maiden name. I started exploring music at a very young age, singing in choirs and select groups as early as sixth grade. I started participating in talent shows and thrived onstage. As time passed on, I went to college, graduated with a degree in graphic design and began working for a well-known magazine company in NYC, but never let my musical interests go. I would fill my YouTube page with covers of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Alicia Keys, leading to an outpour of positive and encouraging responses. By 2013, I had written dozens of songs for myself as well as other artists, and began stirring up a lot of interest from DJs and producers. I made the decision to get myself in the studio and focus on my own music, sound, and vision. As a result I believe I’ve created something mercurial and eclectic, a bit ethereal and fragile; a sonic blend that comes together as a delicious mix of electronic, rock and pop.”

“The inspiration behind “Echo” was built on an incessant “echo-ing” melody in my head- hence the vocals: “Echo, Echo, Echo…” in the hook. I knew that with this melody’s persistnace, a valuable song had to be written. Ultimately, the song became about personal triumphs- and seeing the light through it all. As for the story behind the EP, Night Vision is about seeing through it all- figuratively, literally, spiritually and emotionally. It’s about finding out how to determine your truths in this lifetime.”

“Also, be on the lookout for my next single to release, “Plastik.” I’d like to think that this single is pretty reflective and thought-provoking in regards to our current world. Music, I think, in general, can get complex sometimes, so as a component to the audio, we shot an acoustic video at The Joint Recording studios in Bushwick that I think is a pretty interesting and beautiful interpretation in its rawness.”
